# Best worship team apps in 2026: 4 chord chart and setlist apps ranked

**In short.** BandHelper is the best worship team app on our weights (7.8): one band subscription syncs songs, sets, chord charts and backing tracks to every member, with Live Sharing to 15 devices. Planning Center Music Stand (7.5) is the easiest choice for churches already on Planning Center, from $2 a month for the team. SongbookPro (7.3) is the cheapest across Android, iPad and Windows, and OnSong (6.9) has the deepest chord engine on Apple devices.

## Ranking

Ranked by a score for this list, which weights our seven criteria for this need; the overall score uses the standard weights.

1. BandHelper (Best for teams that share one band library): 7.8/10 for this list (overall 7.6/10), iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac, Web browser, Subscription
2. Planning Center Music Stand (Best for churches on Planning Center): 7.5/10 for this list (overall 7.4/10), iPad, iPhone, Android, Web browser, $2/mo per team. Review: https://sheetmusicapps.com/reviews/planning-center-music-stand/
3. SongbookPro (Best value across Android, iPad and Windows): 7.3/10 for this list (overall 7.2/10), iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows, $5.99. Review: https://sheetmusicapps.com/reviews/songbookpro/
4. OnSong (Best chord engine on Apple devices): 6.9/10 for this list (overall 6.8/10), iPad, iPhone, Mac, Free / $29.99/yr. Review: https://sheetmusicapps.com/reviews/onsong/

## Key takeaways

- BandHelper scores 7.8 on this page's weights, which give 20% each to smart notation, library and setlists, and sharing; it scores 9 on sharing and 8.5 on library, the highest library score of the four.
- Planning Center Music Stand costs the church $2/month with the 20-member Services plan, $5/month with the free 5-member and 50-member plans and $10/month with 150 or more, for the whole team, on top of Services.
- SongbookPro is a one-time $5.99 on iPhone, iPad and Windows or $6.99 on Android, and its Groups plans share one library with 12 users for $50 a year.
- All four apps transpose ChordPro or text charts, but only OnSong can transpose chords inside a PDF, and only a text-based one.
- OnSong has the deepest chord engine, with Nashville numbers, roman numerals, solfège and Planning Center import, but it runs only on iPad, iPhone and Mac.

A worship team reads mostly chord charts and lyric sheets, changes keys for each singer, and plays a new set every week. The church music app that fits is the one that gets the right chart in the right key onto every musician's device without someone emailing PDFs on Saturday night.

This page ranks the four apps we cover that are built for chord charts and band sets, with weights for that job: smart notation (transposition, chord tools, backing tracks), library and setlists, and sharing count for 20% each, reading and platforms for 15% each, and value for money for 10%. Annotation is not weighted. General PDF readers such as MobileSheets and forScore are ranked in our [overall ranking](/best-sheet-music-apps/), and [How we rank](/how-we-rank/) explains each criterion. Prices are US prices as of October 2026.

## Our picks, ranked

BandHelper is the best worship team app on these weights, with 7.8, ahead of Planning Center Music Stand (7.5), SongbookPro (7.3) and OnSong (6.9). Less than a point separates first from last, so your church's planning system, your team's devices and your budget matter as much as the order.

### 1. BandHelper: Best for teams that share one band library

- Score for this list: 7.8/10 (this page's weights)
- Score: 7.6/10 (calculated from 7 weighted criteria)
- Platforms: iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac, Web browser
- Price: Subscription, subscription, no free tier
- Best for: Gigging bands and band leaders who run shows from shared charts, set lists and backing tracks.
- Not ideal for: Classical players reading notated scores, and Windows-only musicians.
- Facts last checked: 2026-10-06

BandHelper keeps a whole team's repertoire in one account. Songs, set lists, lyrics and chord charts, PDFs and backing tracks sync to every member's device, and the leader's changes to keys or set order reach everyone automatically. Admins set edit and view permissions, assign documents to specific players, and keep a master copy of lyrics, chords and annotations alongside each player's personal version. It scores 9 on sharing and 8.5 on library and setlists, the highest library score on this page.

For chord charts, it reads ChordPro-style bracketed chords, imports ChordPro and OnSong files, and transposes in one tap. Personal Transpose lets a player see their own key for a capo or a horn part without changing the master chart, and chords can show as roman numerals. Live Sharing lets the leader change songs and page positions on up to 15 other devices: between iPhones and iPads it needs no router or internet, while Android or mixed setups need the same Wi-Fi network. Backing tracks, a click, MIDI and a tuner (added in November 2025) run from the same set.

The limits: there is no free tier, only a 30-day trial with no payment details, and no Windows app, so Windows users get the web interface. PDF handling is basic, with pages set to Letter or A4, and there are no face-gesture or dedicated half-page turns. Several App Store reviewers call it complex to set up, and a Simplified interface level arrived in March 2025. Band plans are priced by team size, from $40/year for 2 to 5 users to $60/year for 6 to 20 at the Basic level on the website.

Pros:
- One subscription covers the whole band
- Admin roles, per-player parts and shared or personal annotations
- Live Sharing drives songs and pages on up to 15 devices

Cons:
- Basic PDF reader for notated scores
- No free tier
- No native Windows app

### 2. Planning Center Music Stand: Best for churches on Planning Center

- Score for this list: 7.5/10 (this page's weights)
- Score: 7.4/10 (calculated from 7 weighted criteria)
- Platforms: iPad, iPhone, Android, Web browser
- Price: $2/mo per team, subscription, no free tier
- Best for: Church worship teams that already plan services in Planning Center.
- Not ideal for: Musicians who want a personal library outside a church account.
- Facts last checked: 2026-10-06
- Full review: https://sheetmusicapps.com/reviews/planning-center-music-stand/

Music Stand is the simplest choice for a church that already plans services in Planning Center Services. The service plan is the setlist: musicians open the date and find the songs, the chosen keys, the charts and the rehearsal audio waiting. Limited file visibility assigns parts by position, so a violinist automatically gets the violin PDF, and the worship leader's annotations can be merged into each player's own.

Sessions let one device turn pages on every connected device, and the metronome follows each song's tempo and syncs across the band with Ableton Link. Charts made in the Lyrics & Chords editor use ChordPro and can be viewed in any key or as number and numeral charts; the change is temporary and visible only to you, and uploaded PDFs can't be transposed. Since August 2025, Services imports editable ChordPro charts from SongSelect.

The church pays one add-on for the whole team: $2/month with the 20-member Services plan, $5/month with the free 5-member and 50-member plans, and $10/month with 150 or more, on top of Services. It does nothing without a Services account. Sessions need internet and run only in the mobile apps, offline use covers the last 10 plans you opened, and there are no half-page turns. It is rated 3.52 on the US App Store and 4.11 on Google Play. Read the [Music Stand review](/reviews/planning-center-music-stand/).

Pros:
- Charts, keys and audio arrive with each service plan
- Leader-driven page turns for the whole team
- Annotation sharing from the worship leader

Cons:
- Works only with Planning Center Services
- Files must be uploaded in Services first
- No half-page turns, tuner or recording

### 3. SongbookPro: Best value across Android, iPad and Windows

- Score for this list: 7.3/10 (this page's weights)
- Score: 7.2/10 (calculated from 7 weighted criteria)
- Platforms: iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows
- Price: $5.99, one-time + optional subscription, free tier available
- Best for: Gigging and worship musicians who play from chord charts on mixed devices.
- Not ideal for: Classical players who read multi-page notated scores.
- Facts last checked: 2026-10-06
- Full review: https://sheetmusicapps.com/reviews/songbookpro/

SongbookPro is the cheapest way to put a whole team on the same charts, on almost any device. It runs natively on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Amazon Fire tablets, and Solo costs a one-time $5.99 on iPhone, iPad and Windows or $6.99 on Android, bought separately on each platform. The free version holds 12 songs, and its value score (9) is the highest on this page.

The chord engine handles ChordPro and chord-over-lyrics charts, one-tap key and capo changes, Nashville, Latin and German notation, and chord diagrams for guitar, ukulele, banjo and mandolin. Setlists come with timers and notes, and backing tracks, pads that follow the song's key, a metronome, a tuner and MIDI messages per song are built in. In-app search imports from Ultimate Guitar's free content, WorshipTogether and e-chords. PDFs are shown as images, so they can't be transposed.

SongbookPro Groups shares one library across a team for $30/year for 6 users, $50/year for 12 and $80/year for 20, with read-only, editor and admin roles, and members use the full app without buying it. Groups doesn't sync handwritten notes, so a leader can't push markings, and there are no leader-controlled or half-page turns. Since February 2026, Groups exports play-count reports, which help with copyright reporting. See the [SongbookPro review](/reviews/songbookpro/) and [OnSong vs SongbookPro](/compare/onsong-vs-songbookpro/).

Pros:
- One-time $5.99 to $6.99 per platform for unlimited songs
- Runs on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Fire tablets
- Strong ChordPro engine with transposition and capo

Cons:
- PDFs are images: no transposition or reflow
- No half-page, gesture or leader-controlled page turns
- Each platform is a separate purchase

### 4. OnSong: Best chord engine on Apple devices

- Score for this list: 6.9/10 (this page's weights)
- Score: 6.8/10 (calculated from 7 weighted criteria)
- Platforms: iPad, iPhone, Mac
- Price: Free / $29.99/yr, free + paid plans, free tier available
- Best for: Worship leaders and gigging bands on Apple devices who play from chord charts.
- Not ideal for: Bands with Android or Windows members, and classical players reading notation.
- Facts last checked: 2026-10-06
- Full review: https://sheetmusicapps.com/reviews/onsong/

OnSong has the deepest chord engine on this page. Its ChordPro and OnSong charts transpose, take a capo, and display letters, Nashville numbers, roman numerals or solfège. ChordFlow, added in version 2026.0, transposes chords inside text-based PDFs, which none of the other three can do, and a key finder suggests a key from your singing. Teams can import from Planning Center, SongSelect, PraiseCharts and WorshipReady, and Premium adds CCLI song reporting.

Premium also adds what a live team uses most: annotations, a metronome, backing tracks and multitracks, MIDI, lyrics projection and band streaming, where OnSong Connect or OnCue keeps members on the leader's song and scroll position. Group plans give each member Premium for $48 per user per year at 2 to 5 users, falling to $18 at 26 or more.

It ranks fourth for two reasons. It runs only on iPad, iPhone and Mac (Android is listed as coming soon, with no date), which costs it on platforms, and most features need a subscription: the free version is a 30-song viewer, Essentials costs $29.99/year and Premium $59.99/year. Each device also keeps its own library, synced through Dropbox or Google Drive with Premium. Read the [OnSong review](/reviews/onsong/).

Pros:
- Deep ChordPro engine with capo, Nashville numbers and transposition
- Runs a live show with pedals, MIDI and backing tracks
- Imports from Planning Center, SongSelect and PraiseCharts

Cons:
- Apple devices only
- Free tier is a 30-song viewer
- Sync needs Premium and a cloud folder

MobileSheets also reads ChordPro charts with transposition and capo alongside PDFs, for a one-time $15.99 per platform, and appears in our [Android](/best/sheet-music-apps-for-android/) and [Windows](/best/sheet-music-apps-for-windows/) rankings.

## How do the four worship apps compare?

BandHelper and Music Stand lead on sharing because the leader's set reaches everyone through an account, while SongbookPro leads on price and OnSong on chord tools. The table compares score, platforms and starting price; the feature matrix shows chart and team features.

| App | Score | Platforms | Starting price | Free tier | Best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| BandHelper | 7.6/10 | iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac, Web browser | Subscription | No | Gigging bands and band leaders who run shows from shared charts, set lists and backing tracks. |
| Planning Center Music Stand | 7.4/10 | iPad, iPhone, Android, Web browser | $2/mo per team | No | Church worship teams that already plan services in Planning Center. |
| SongbookPro | 7.2/10 | iPad, iPhone, Android, Windows | $5.99 | Yes | Gigging and worship musicians who play from chord charts on mixed devices. |
| OnSong | 6.8/10 | iPad, iPhone, Mac | Free / $29.99/yr | Yes | Worship leaders and gigging bands on Apple devices who play from chord charts. |

| Feature | BandHelper | Planning Center Music Stand | SongbookPro | OnSong |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Smart notation: Opens MusicXML | No | No | No | No |
| Smart notation: PDF to interactive score | No | No | No | No |
| Smart notation: Notation playback | No | No | No | No |
| Smart notation: Transposition | Yes | Yes | Yes | Paid plan |
| Smart notation: Chord & lyric charts | Yes | Yes | Yes | Paid plan |
| Sharing & ensembles: Sharing | Yes | Yes | Partly | Paid plan |
| Sharing & ensembles: Ensemble tools | Yes | Yes | Paid plan | Paid plan |

If you only need a chord chart app for iPad, OnSong has the most chart tools and SongbookPro the lowest price; our [iPad ranking](/best/sheet-music-apps-for-ipad/) compares them with general readers. Use the [comparison tool](/compare/) to add an app such as MobileSheets or forScore.

## How do ChordPro and transposition work?

ChordPro is a plain-text chart format: the lyrics are text, and each chord sits in square brackets just before the syllable where it changes. Because the app knows which characters are chords, it can rewrite all of them in a new key.

```
[G]Amazing [G7]grace, how [C]sweet the [G]sound
```

Move that line up a whole step and every G becomes A and every C becomes D. A capo setting works the other way for guitarists: the chart shows the shapes to play while the band stays in the original key. Nashville numbers and roman numerals replace letters with scale degrees, so one chart works in any key; BandHelper, Music Stand, SongbookPro and OnSong all display them in some form.

A PDF is different. A scanned chart is a picture, and BandHelper, SongbookPro and Music Stand cannot change its chords. OnSong's ChordFlow works on text-based PDFs, where the chords exist as text. If your charts come from SongSelect, import them as ChordPro rather than PDF: Services has offered editable ChordPro import from SongSelect since August 2025, and OnSong imports from SongSelect directly. Our guide to [transposing sheet music](/guides/transpose-sheet-music/) covers notated parts.

## How do setlists get from a planning system to the band?

With Music Stand, the service plan in Planning Center Services is the setlist. With the other three, the leader builds the set in the app and it reaches the band by sync or sharing.

### Planning Center churches

Scheduled musicians see their plans in Music Stand automatically, and users with editor permission can reorder plan items from the app. Charts and audio must be added in Services first, from your own uploads or from SongSelect, PraiseCharts and MultiTracks, which need their own accounts. OnSong can import a Planning Center plan, which suits Apple-only teams that want OnSong's chord tools with Planning Center scheduling.

### Teams that plan in the app

In BandHelper, set lists sync to everyone in the account, and the Plus level adds events, availability requests and reminders, so a team can plan rehearsals in the same place. SongbookPro sets reach the team through a shared Groups library or as files, and OnSong Premium beams songs and sets to team members, while free OnSong users can receive them.

### Keeping the band together on stage

Music Stand Sessions and BandHelper Live Sharing let the leader drive everyone's pages. OnSong does it with Premium, through OnSong Connect on local Wi-Fi or OnCue for up to 6 devices. SongbookPro has no leader-controlled page turns, so each player turns their own with a tap or a pedal; our [page-turner pedal guide](/guides/best-page-turner-pedals/) compares models.

## What does each app cost for a whole team?

For a 12-person team, yearly costs run from $24 for the Music Stand add-on, if your church already pays for Services, to $324 for an OnSong group plan. These are US website or store prices as of October 2026.

| App | Plan for 12 musicians | Yearly cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Planning Center Music Stand | Add-on with the 20-member Services plan ($2/month) | $24, plus $180 for Services ($15/month) |
| SongbookPro | Groups Ensemble, 12 users | $50 |
| BandHelper | Basic, 6 to 20 users (website price) | $60 |
| OnSong | Group plan, 11 to 25 users ($27 per user) | $324 |

The cheapest line depends on what you already pay for. A small church on the free 5-member Services plan pays $5/month for Music Stand and nothing for Services, while a 50-member Services plan costs $32 plus $5, or $37 a month. BandHelper's Plus level ($90/year for 6 to 20 users) adds scheduling, and BandHelper charges more when you pay through the app stores than on its website. SongbookPro Solo licenses cost $5.99 to $6.99 once per player, but they don't share a library the way Groups does.

BandHelper's 30-day trial needs no payment details, new Planning Center subscriptions get the first 30 days free, SongbookPro Groups has a 21-day trial, and OnSong Premium has a 30-day trial on annual billing. Load next week's set into your first choice and play it through at rehearsal.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is the best app for worship teams?

BandHelper scores highest on our worship weights (7.8): one subscription keeps the whole team's songs, sets, charts and backing tracks in sync, with admin roles and Live Sharing. If your church already plans services in Planning Center Services, Music Stand (7.5) is simpler, because each week's set, keys and charts arrive without anyone sending files.

### How much does Planning Center Music Stand cost?

The app is free, but the church pays a monthly add-on to Planning Center Services: $2/month with the 20-member Services plan, $5/month with the free 5-member and 50-member plans and $10/month with plans of 150 or more, as of October 2026. One fee covers every team member. Services itself is free for 5 team members and costs $15 to $239/month above that.

### What is a ChordPro app?

An app that reads ChordPro, a plain-text chart format where each chord sits in square brackets inside the lyrics. Because the chart is text, the app can rewrite every chord in a new key, apply a capo or show numbers instead of letters. BandHelper, SongbookPro, OnSong and Music Stand's Lyrics & Chords editor all work with ChordPro, and MobileSheets reads it too.

### Can worship apps transpose PDF chord charts?

Mostly not. BandHelper, SongbookPro and Music Stand transpose text and ChordPro charts but not PDFs or images. OnSong's ChordFlow, added in version 2026.0, transposes chords inside text-based PDFs, where the chords exist as text; a scanned chart is a picture and stays in its original key.

### Which worship team app works on Android and Windows?

SongbookPro is the only one of the four with native apps on Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows. Music Stand runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, with a browser version for Windows. BandHelper runs on iPhone, iPad, Android and Mac, with a web interface but no Windows app, and OnSong runs only on iPad, iPhone and Mac.

### Is there a free worship team app?

Not a complete one. SongbookPro's free version holds 12 songs and OnSong's free viewer 30, enough to test with your own charts. BandHelper has a 30-day free trial with no payment details, and new Planning Center subscriptions get the first 30 days free. For a team that pays, SongbookPro Groups starts at $30 a year for 6 users.
